The City Gallery was designed to be the first Contemporary Art Gallery in the City of Charleston, opening in 2002. The gallery incorporates two floors of open gallery space both one and two stories in height for exhibit flexibility.
Working closely with the Cultural Affairs Department and Mayor Joe Riley, the space was designed as a gallery and function space, but unlike typical galleries, this one has a spectacular view of the Charleston Harbor and the Waterfront Park. The gallery building is the centerpiece for the entire One Vendue Range development consisting of 50 condominiums in adjacent buildings and one penthouse condo on top of the gallery building itself.
